Fairtrade Nepalese Brass Saraswati Statuette

Size Guide

This small brass Fairtrade Nepalese Saraswati mini statuette makes an auspicious addition to any home, studio or place of study. The mini statuette (or murti in Nepali) stands 4.7 cm (1.85") tall by 3cm (1.18") wide.

About Saraswati

Saraswati is the Hindu goddess of knowledge and learning, music and the arts and therefore a favourite among school children, academics and artists of all kinds. She is one of the trinity of Hindu goddesses (Tridevi) alongside Lakshmi and Parvati.

Saraswati is depicted seated on a stylised (white) lotus flower, symbolising light, knowledge and truth. Although she is sometimes shown with four arms, here she is in her two-armed form playing her veena, an ancient stringed instrument that predates the more modern sitar.

This statuette was made in Kathmandu by the artisans of Mahaguthi Craft with Conscience, a Fairtrade organisation that promotes traditional Nepali culture, art and artisans.

Vintage Sizing and Measurements

Vintage sizing and modern sizing can be very different. Because of this, we provide detailed measurements of all vintage clothing to help you determine whether or not a garment will fit correctly. An assessment of the estimated modern size will be noted, as well as any sizes on the tag, but please refer to measurements to best determine fit.

A good way to determine fit:

* Find a similar item in your wardrobe.
* Measure it according to our measurement guidelines.
* Compare your measurements to those of the vintage item you are interested in.
* You're done. If it's a good fit, make it yours!

We do occasionally pin clothing to fit our models, so please read all measurements carefully. We do not accept returns for vintage merchandise that does not fit. If you have any questions about our sizing/measurements, please contact us at info@meroretro.com.
